Safety first? To track or not to track . .

The tracking of workers can often become a divisive issue. An individual's view will often depend on what type of organisation he or she works for, the particular market sector and their role therein. Some sectors and job roles have quite varied attitudes to GPS devices, and the 'T' word. At Connexion2 it is an aim that any user of our products will have the most suitable device in line with the risks they face - not simply be supplied with technology for it's own sake.

Something we always stress to our customers is that Identicom is a lone worker device first and foremost - the primary function of the device is to empower workers to use as part of their dynamic risk assessment and to reduce any risks they encounter as part of their working day. Whilst tracking can be contentious, with over 160 attacks on UK lone workers every single day*, the ability to locate and individual should the need arise offers considerable safety benefits to anyone working alone.

Identicom

Some GPS enabled Identicom devices do facilitate the tracking of a user.

However it's worth noting there are also GPS devices in the range that cannot facilitate tracking of staff.

The i-Series range of Identicom devices does include two variants that are GPS enabled, this location data is only made available to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) by text message in the event of a user initiating a 'Red Alert' (Opening an audio link to the ARC by the push of a button), thus keeping the lone worker in control of when they need to be located.

A t-Series Identicom device has the capability to store multiple GPS position coordinates and uploads this automatically via GPRS periodically. This does allow an employer to access a range of movement through the Mobile Workforce Management Platform if they wish.

Only a t-Series identicom integrates with M.W.M.P

Only t-Series Identicom devices facilitate the ability to 'track' a user, however it is most likely the operational benefits provided through the platform that are of most use.

t-Series Identicom gives a lone worker manager access to M.W.M.P which opens up a whole range of added business benefits to help coordinate better management of mobile teams of workers.

Our product range is diverse, enabling the most appropriate solution to be utilised by an organisation. We recommend that any tracking of staff movement is done within a structured and agreed lone worker policy based on tangible benefits to the organisation and the individual lone worker.
