The award-winning Identicom lone worker device (LWD) is the most widely used dedicated device of its kind in the United Kingdom. The product also has a growing international presence and is helping lone workers reduce risks to their personal safety all around the world - with over 100,000 devices in circulation.
Identicom is uniquely styled as an identity badge, making it easy to wear and discreet to use by any lone worker on the receiving end of verbal abuse or attack. At the push of a discreet button, Identicom will make an audio call to a nominated Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), where any unfolding events can be assessed, recorded and an appropriate response escalated.
The product also allows remote workers at potential risk of slips, trips or falls the additional reassurance that 'Man Down' detection allows an alarm to be raised automatically should they become incapacitated. GPS enabled devices in the range are also available giving additional protection for lone workers and employers alike.

Red Alert: A 'Red Alert' is the key function on the Identicom lone worker device. It initiates a two-way audio communication channel between the device and a specified Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) at the push of a button. A 'Red Alert' is managed by a dedicated handler at the ARC throughout it's entirety. The audio is assessed and recorded for potential future use to inform best practices or legal proceedings if required. The situation is also escalated in line with what is required given the situation, involving the emergency services if required. Designated employer contacts are also notified of the situation. The device is BS8484 (What is BS8484?) compliant, and can therefore be supplied as part of an audited and approved solution. A lone worker solution that is audited and approved against BS8484 is the most effective way to guarantee a Police escalation for a lone worker in the U.K. * Two-way communication available on 8 Series devices only. |

Amber Alert:The 'Amber Alert' function, activated by a push to the button highlighted, allows a lone worker to leave a short voice message (often 15 - 20 seconds in length) outlining contextual information about the activity an individual is about to embark upon. This will typically feature their name, geographical location, actvity information and details of any known risk (if present). The 'Amber Alert' should be updated any time a new activity is carried out to ensure the information is current. The date and time of the audio is recorded and the file can then be held at the ARC for future use as needed. Typically, if an Identicom is in a state of 'Red Alert', the ARC will access the audio recording of the most current 'Amber Alert' in order to help gain a proper understanding of the situation unfolding. This makes it of potentially vital importance that it is kept up to date. * The 'Amber Alert' is referred to as a 'Yellow Alert' in the USA and Canada in order to avoid confusion with terminology for a child abduction emergency. |

Status Check:The 'Status Check' is a key part of any lone worker's dynamic risk assessment. The function is used prior to entering a period of lone working and gives visual feedback on GSM network signal strength, battery life and also initiates a GPS location fix (assuming GPS has been specified). The function utilises a neat LCD screen and is colour coded to give a user simple and accurate information to inform their decision about whether or not to enter a specific lone working situation. Every 'Status Check' also allows the capture of temperature information (8 Series only) that can be automatically included as part of device reporting for a client if requested. This is most likely to inform best-practices in relation to the management of particularly remote lone workers, or those working routinely in a typically hot or cold environment. |

Multi-function buttons:Identicom's two-way audio capability (8 Series devices only) allows a lone worker to use the device to make audio calls to improve work-based communication options and to give lone worker managers the potential to supply lone worker devices without the need for employers to foot additional expense by also suppling company mobile phones. Three Multi-function buttons located behind the user's identity card allows audio communication with pre-defined number destinations or instead to trigger pre-defined text messages to chosen contact numbers. Please note, the Multi-function buttons are for non-discrete, non-alarm usage only. They are not intended to be used as part of a lone worker's dynamic risk assessment or to support a 'Red Alert' situation. |
Man Down:A 'Man Down' 'Red Alert' is raised automatically should an Identicom wearer be incapacitated due to an unknown health problem or a trip, slip or fall. All 8 Series and selective 7 Series Identicom models have Man Down functionality built into the device - if a device is stationary for a definable time period and is also tilted through 75 degrees (standard configuration setting) in combination, an automatic 'Red Alert' will be opened. Prior to a 'Man Down' 'Red Alert' being opened, the unit will enter a pre-alarm phase where the Identicom will begin vibrating to alert a wearer that prompt action is required unless this is a genuine alarm situation.
